ChatMDR API available in beta

An API, Application Programming Interface, is a way to connect to ChatMDR from other software. Next to the graphical user interface at app.chatmdr.eu, the API is used to access ChatMDR directly from another app. This can be anything: a web application, a word processor, a mobile app or even a speech assistant.

Who is it for?

The API is intended for developers of software solutions who want to integrate ChatMDR functionality into their own apps. For example, a requirements management tool can access ChatMDR to improve the user input. Or an email add-in could update or summarize text in an email to a notified body.

Power users who are familiar with a little coding in a language such as Python – which, by the way, can be generated by AI tools like ChatGPT – can also use the API to automate their processes. Let’s say you are an auditor at a notified body and you have to check the device classification of 20 of your customer’s devices. You could write a batch process that runs relevant information about each device through ChatMDR and highlights those files that you should pay some attention to first, and which ones are probably ok and can be quickly reviewed later. In that case, you could (ask ChatGPT to) write a script that converts each of your customer’s Word documents to text, embeds the document in a request to the ChatMDR API, and give you back an assessment if the qualification is probably sound.

A script for this example (not tested) generated by ChatGPT 4-o can be found here: https://chatgpt.com/share/dc57d1ee-777e-4ecb-9de2-1fe3949ff894

Beta access

We are opening the API for everyone to start developing and testing today, for free! During the beta period, you can request your API key using our Contact Form.

The expectation, depending on experience in testing, is that the beta will end in Q4 2024. After that, the API will be suitable for production use.
